The Community of Hope is a small United Church of Christ congregation that gathers each Sunday morning to worship and pray together. We come together as people on a journey, respectful of our diversity, supportive of our callings, and committed to learning what it means to be the body of Christ in this world today. We are ecumenical partners with Advent Lutheran ELCA. Together, we are the Madison Christian Community (MCC) and share our building, budget, programs, education and fellowship.

Our Statement of Purpose

We are human beings struggling together: creatures of hope and despair, love and hate; members of families, persons living in a technological society. We come together as a segment of the world with common hopes and expectations, acknowledging our dependence on God and on each other. We affirm our belief in God and in Jesus, the Christ. We believe the living Spirit of God is present as we worship and as we interact with people. It is that Spirit which gives direction to our actions. We recognize Jesus' life as an expression of human potential, and affirm that just as He is, we also are creatures of God. Distinctive marks of our identity include sharing in Christ's baptism and eating at His table. We affirm the goodness of God's world and our willingness to serve that world as a community. Community is about people. The purpose of this Christian community is to grow limbs for reducing distances, limbs for loving, accepting, forgiving and serving, with individuals choosing their own avenue of expression. Thus we come hearing a call to be a community, a summons out of isolation, an invitation to be with each other and to be for each other. We come together to seek new understandings and to prepare ourselves for engagement; not to be separated or disengaged from the world, but to let the world and life's events set our agenda. We want to be free for others and we declare that the Church is its own true self only when it exists for humanity.
