KIDS: Get Ready to Garden - Sunday August 8!
The MCC summer gardening program will start soon with new plans, a large variety of plants, and lots of fun! Kids gardening at MCC will take place after church on the following Sundays this summer: July 25, August 8 and August 22. We will also need help in between sessions. We are piloting a new approach that we hope will help our children make even more connections between nurturing soil and soil. We also plan to have more interesting activities for the 2nd through 5th grade set, to draw them into the garden. Sign-up sheets will be available soon.

Suggested items include canned goods (fruit, vegetables, tuna, beef stew, fruit juice, etc.) peanut butter, jelly, cereal. We can especially use any large grocery bags. We do not have facilities to handle fresh produce. For those who prefer to donate money, checks can be made out to the Lussier Community Education Center and designated for the pantry. Budget Requests for 2011
The budget committee will begin working on the MCC's 2011 budget in August. If you are aware of any budget items or special needs an MCC group may have, please pass the requests to the MCC Budget Committee. This could be a repair, new equipment, increase funding for a committee, things that are needed to be updated and so on. An example: we became aware that the refrigerator in the kitchen is not working well and the MCC needs a new one. This is something that the budget committee could discuss and ask for in the MCC budget. The committee cannot promise your request will be added to the budget, but it wants to make sure all needs are compiled and presented to the Leadership Team for consideration. Please talk to Sonja Keesey-Berg, Tom Mattews, Joanna Palmer or John Rowe. If you are not sure if your idea/request should be in the budget, please talk to us anyway! Thanks, Joanna Palmer
Pennies for Peace -The recent deposit was $11.34 which brings the Pennies for Peace total to $839.86! One penny will buy a pencil and two dollars will pay for a teacher for one day! Jack is the coordinator for Pennies for Peace. Jack will be gone for five weeks and Fred & Jean Loichinger will be collecting our pennies. Can we surprise Jack by collecting a large amount. Not only surprising Jack but helping the students to have all they need to study. This worthy cause is taken on by the Women of Advent. Thank you Jack.
