"Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you," (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18). Prayer is the way a disciple enjoys an intimate relationship with God. Through prayer God's will is discerned and greater clarity is gained for our journey. Prayer is powerful. Indeed, God's creative, redeeming and healing power is often directed through prayer. As a discipleship congregation we encourage one another to grow in our prayer and spiritual life. We teach about prayer and offer opportunities to grow in our spiritual lives. We help people identify their spiritual gifts and callings. We also provide guidance and resources for the development of a deep spiritual life. Prayer support and healing services are available for both members and non-members who are in need of physical, emotional or spiritual support and healing. The MCC offers both indoor and summer outdoor labyrinth walks. The labyrinth is a circular two dimensional pattern for walking, which has only one continuous path to the center and back out. Many people find that walking the labyrinth helps them to discern what they need to let go of and what they need to accept and affirm in their lives. The MCC labyrinths are patterned after the labyrinth laid into the floor of Chartres Cathedral in France in the early 13th Century. The outdoor labyrinth is available at anytime during the summer, and indoor labyrinth walks are scheduled regularly throughout the year. A folding, portable labyrinth is also available. A small group of people gets together every Tuesday morning at the MCC at 7am for contemplative prayer followed by a potluck breakfast. We spend time in silence, practice the sacred reading of a text ( lectio divina), and share in intercessory prayer. Spiritual Guidance and Pastoral Care The MCC pastors are available for conversation and prayer with individuals, couples or families. Jeff Wild has a strong background in marriage and family enhancement. Ute Molitor has specialized training in spiritual guidance. Parallel to our Sunday adult education series, we also offer ongoing bible study of the lectionary texts. Pastors and lay people lead the study through guided questions and facilitate open and lively discussion. Texts and biblical background materials are made available ahead of time. Members are encouraged to pray and study God's Word on a daily basis. Pastors introduce and make available resources for daily devotions. The Elizabeth and Judith Circle also meet for bible study and fellowship. For more information, click on fellowship opportunities.
