| Our summer worship schedule, Memorial Day through Labor
Day, is 9:30 a. The remainder of the year: Education for all ages is at 9:00 a., and Worship at 10:15 a. This Week's Sermon ― Community of Hope Advent Lutheran (Evangelical Lutheran Church in America) and Community of Hope (United Church of Christ) are partners in Christ. Together, we are the Madison Christian Community. We worship together at least twelve times a year. Our building includes two sanctuariesthe Blessing Room (Advent) and the Covenant Room (Hope) and we conduct our services at the same time. Before and after worship, we come together for education and fellowship. Children are welcome in worship. Nursery care is also available during the services. MCC Community Worship When we come together to worship God together, we become a new congregation gathered to praise, give thanks, sing, pray, hear the word and, share in the sacraments. We combine the strengths of our different traditions but also make use of varied resources from traditions other than our own. A team of MCC worship team members comes together to plan each service keeping in mind special occasions and themes as they present themselves. Traditionally, we come together for Christmas, Lenten services, Easter Sunrise. We also incorporate special themes and events in the life of our partnership and its members into our worship. Among these are annual meeting Sunday, Earth day, the opening and closing of our Sunday School year, graduation of seniors, a summer hymn sing, and a Thanksgiving service. We invite people of all denominations and ages to the communion table. We have an active music program with a number of pianists and special music contributions. Using chairs rather than pews allows us to use our worship space creatively. We vary our liturgical art as well as the general set-up of the sanctuary. Advent ELCA Advent is a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America and its worship reflects this tradition in unique and creative ways. Aside from inclusive versions of services from the Lutheran Book of Worship, services at Advent also feature alternative liturgies such as the Chicago Folk Mass, African Freedom Mass and liturgies created by members of the congregation. Many members contribute their musical, artistic and leadership talents to make worship lively and invigorating. A special childrens message is included in every service. We celebrate communion on the first and third Sunday of every month and invite all of Gods children to the table. Advent worships in the Blessing Room. Community of Hope UCC Community of Hope was formed by individuals representing many different denominations. Being by nature ecumenical, we have made use of many different resources and traditions over time. We currently use a fairly regular and language inclusive worship format but write the prayers and texts to work with the theme of the day. Some of the services are written by the COH worship team. We celebrate communion on the first Sunday of the month and believe that Christ invites all of Gods children to his table. The services are lead by lay members who also contribute childrens sermons, special music, altar decorations, and occasionally the adult sermons. Members have also written liturgies that celebrate major events in the lives of individual members. Our care and love for each other is palpable in our worship and we are excited to welcome you in our midst. Madison Christian Community 7118 Old Sauk Road Madison, WI 53717-1099 Phone: 608-836-1455 |
